Phoenix - 11/18/11
Laying in the ashes
of what could have been
my flesh is charred
my nerves scream

We blazed too hot
shined too bright
we lacked the fuel
to sustain our light

In ember's glow
I see your face
into the ash
your lips I trace

But you've grown cold
the fire's gone
but for your ghost
I am alone

Gaze at the sun
'till it blinds my eyes
I'm over come
with the urge to fly

So I swallow
the last hot coals
through their burn
I regain control

From deep inside
I'm set alight
in a burst of flame
I take flight

Straight for the sky
race through the air
I charge ahead
while you stay there
